About

Maciej Czerwinski is a philologist and slavist dealing with - both theoretically and empirically - (cultural) semiotics, critical discourse studies, sociolinguistics and stylistics of non-literary and literary texts. His main focus is dedicated to the Croatian (as well as Bosnian, Montenegrin and Serbian) literary language and literary traditions, notably of the 19. and 20. century. He also translates (the most recent translation is the book by Umberto Eco "A Theory of Semiotics", WUJ, Krakow 2009).

He was studying at Jagiellonian University and, as Visiting Assistant in Resarch, at Yale University (2003). He is author of over seventy scholar papers and a number of literary critics and essays on the Balkan affairs.
